Spain’s Getariako Txakolina region is comprised of more than 30 wineries in Gipuzkoa, close to the French border. It received “Denominación de Origen Protegida” status in 1990. Thanks to the coastal Atlantic location, the vineyards are protected from extreme weather conditions such as frost and heat waves. And here is where the magic happens. The challenging yet gifted location allows the production of mineral, clean, light, and refreshing whites that pair well with a hot sunny day.
The Ostolaza family has been growing grapes in Getaria for three generations on a vineyard that spans 15 hectares on a mountain overlooking the ocean. The vines thrive in the Atlantic climate and sandy loam soil. Their Agerre Txakolina is an “I’ve been gardening all-day kind of wine.” Join us to taste this wine on Thursday, June 15th. But if you can’t make it, no problem. We have plenty!
