Entertaining your family and friends at Thanksgiving can get a little tricky. However, choosing the right wines for this fabulous feast doesn’t have to be, especially with our help! We’ve been working very hard, tasting and curating our WS ESSENTIALS pack with just the right selection to get you through the holiday. We hope you’ll enjoy these wines as much as we do!
1. Elevate your bubble game: We work hard for this feast and want it to shine. Welcoming your guests with a beautifully balanced and delicate Champagne sets the tone for elegance and a succulent meal. With her Patience Champagne, Emeline de Sloovere leads a sustainable production movement, employing biodynamic cultivation and minimal sulfites. She also innovatively replaced metal neck sleeves with eco-friendly paper strips, reducing her winery’s carbon footprint while ensuring quality. This exquisite Champagne is a blend of 75% Chardonnay and 25% Pinot Meunier from 60-70 year-old vines in chalk and limestone soils. Don’t go into the holiday without this gem! Value: $75
2. An Italian for good measure: The Poggio Graffetta winery is located just a stone’s throw from Ispica, close to Nodo and Modica – two villages that exemplify the authentic beauty of Sicilian Baroque architecture. Their Grillo has truly proven its worth. It showcases a lively freshness and aromatic profile, featuring a bright acidity along with delightful notes of citrus, white peach, and herbs. Value: $18
3. Beaujolais-Villages: Jean Foillard’s organic grapes are sourced from premium vineyards near Villié-Morgon, Lancié, Saint-Amour, and Saint-Étienne-la-Varenne. The wine undergoes a prolonged élevage similar to that of acclaimed Morgons, resulting in a gradual maturation that enhances its refinement. With flavors of pomegranate, rhubarb, and black tea, captivating balance of depth, density, silkiness, and elegance. Light red. Light red Value: $30
4. Let’s go traditional: Neyers Vineyards is located in the heart of Napa, but winemaker Bruce Neyers has been undeniably influenced by Berkeley-based French wine importer Kermit Lynch. His Zinfandel has a unique freshness, brimming with bright red berries and hints of dried fruit. It’s flavorful, yet restrained for a CA Zin, with black peppercorn spice and hints of chocolate and nuts. Full-body red. Value: $36
1. For cooking and sipping: Our house favorite Pignoletto. Slight spritz, low alcohol, with intense aromas of pear and white flowers. Value: $25
2. For cooking and dipping: An organically-produced extra virgin olive oil from Vittoria, Sicily. Value: $24
3. For chilling: Two wine-sense glasses and a bottle of Ruché di Castagnole Monferrato – made from 100% hand-harvested Ruché grapes, fermented and aged in stainless steel to preserve its unique character. I love this wine! Value: $36
